This should definitely mention Matrix, and I think saying that just
this is the community is reductive at this point.

There hasn't been a This Week in Spectrum email in ages, but there are
now the regular development streams, so it makes more sense to point
there as a way to follow current developments in the project.
The descriptions of the system had become very out of date, having
mostly been written during preliminary stages before I even began
putting the Spectrum system together, and at the same time, were very
specific in how they envisaged the system working in ways I'm no
longer sure about. So I've updated those descriptions to reflect
current reality, and reduced the focus on things that are not
implemented (or at least designed) yet.

There hasn't been one of these for a while, and it will probably be a
while before the next one.

Since I haven't been posting nearly enough updates, following the
previous link wouldn't show anything, because it would just show posts
from the last month. This isn't really a fix for the problem that I'm
just not doing enough updates, but it's a small improvement.

The empty alt text would make the image basically invisible if the
user agent didn't display the image for whatever reason. This would
have been fine if the image was entirely decorative, but since it's
also the only way to navigate to the logo page it's important it has
some fallback content so there's still something to select.

We don't do anything to fall back to a PNG favicon for browsers that
don't support conic gradients (Firefox <83), because there's not
really any good way to do that, and the favicon isn't all that
important anyway.

I thought it might be useful to have a place to collect links that are
particularly relevant to Spectrum. This serves two purposes: to
provide further external reading for people learning about Spectrum
from the website; and to make it easy for us to find links we refer to
often.
At some point I might add author names, etc. to these links, and make
them a bit more like proper citations, but for now I wanted to get an
initial version of this out there rather than bikeshedding citation
formats.

This isn't a change in license, just clarifying how the GFDL applies.

It was recently pointed out to me[1] that it's not really clear from
the website that Spectrum is being actively developed, or what point
it is at in its development.
To try to make this clearer, I've added information about blog posts
and email updates to the homepage, so people coming across it should
be able to easily see that the weekly updates are indeed being posted,
and progress is being made.

These should be easier to find and follow when they aren't all mixed
up in a paragraph.
